sailing boat

I think I had the most relaxing week ever. Temple restoration at its peak. I went to the salon twice, had the best neck and back massage since Bangkok, dipped my tips and toes in pastel pink and purple respectively and had very relaxing hair washes. On top of that went for open houses, got $$, ate random catered food, and it’s all ending tomorrow! Wuwuwawawa not to fret though because I still have one more open house to end it with. Om nom nom… :)

I love Chinese New Year because it’s an excuse to talk to people when you go to their open houses. You know, people that you kinda know, but don’t actually know at all. With Brunei being such a small country where everyone knows everybody else and is somehow related, it’s quite relevant I suppose. I’m really thankful I did NOT get sick this year- I had the worst of high fevers last year after drinking a bowl of Fuchow-stewed mee sua, heavily dunked with red wine! Oh my. Salivating as I speak.

Now with all the festivities coming to a close, it’s time to exercise and get rid of all the festive dishes that found their way into my tummy. Quite sian of all the Chinese/Asian cuisine; mad overload!

Tis quite a pointless post. Heh. Shall end  now. Have a great weekend everybody!

Last Sunday with the girls :) It was a lovely day for the beach. See you all girls in a few days time again x

something always brings me back to you

Tumblr was fun but it’s a pain when it comes to uploading photos so I’ve resorted back to my faithful WordPress companion. It’s been with me for almost two years (or more already?) so I might as well fully utilize it while I still can :)

So 2010 is here and I have not been able to give much digression but it’s all okay – updating regularly on Facebook and Twitter helps! Thank goodness for awesome smartphones that let you tweet and FB-update on the go. I left my phone at home while I went to uni the other day – and I survived! Feels like I’m growing up. Haha.

Some pictures :)

Met Daphne and Adrian a few weeks ago before she left at Cheezbox!

Better of the two pictures although half of Adrian's head is cut off..

Matt got me the Monopoly Deal Hong Kong version :)

Gambling while monopoly-ing, winner takes all ;)

It’s almost half past three in the morning. I’ve got a class starting in less than 6 hours. Will update this space soon again :)

I have succummed to the norm, jumping on to the bandwagon :P

one of those nights…

It’s way past three (almost 4 now) and I have to be up by at least 0930 tomorrow morning and I can’t sleep. Or maybe I’m just not trying :P I think I’m starting to take on my mother’s habits of being unable to sleep at night until I get everything that needs to be done, done. I’ve sent all the emails that needs to be sent. I’ve gone through all that needed to be checked. It’s like the days in Singapore on repeat all over again, sigh :)

Been pretty busy driving here and there and I finally got my BMW back. It’s been going to the workshop so often for reasons I don’t even know of- my CD player doesn’t work and my dad got me this gadget that can be placed in the cigarette burner and then connected to my iTouch/pendrive but it doesn’t seem to function well either.. There’s still a few glitches here and there but I’m guessing the technical side was being fixed up. I miss Singapore and my friendsss but so good to see what’s happening here. God is so good and so able.

“The temple is temporary but God is concerned about people.”
Buildings weren’t made to last forever… Never get too busy making the temple/building look good and forget about the people.

Keep fighting the good fight. Change your world-view of God. Fight for what your passionate for and what/who you love!

stranger than your sympathy

Goo Goo Dolls, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Kings of Leon. Been listening to my Recently Added playlist on repeat for the whole day since I’ve been on the laptop. My diskspace is almost exploding and I think it’s all the Gossip Girl I’ve been downloading.. I started watching S1 & S2 from buying DVDs but I’ve been converted and started downloading S3 every week now and I don’t know much about the prices of harddisks here in Brunei. I’m thinking of changing to Windows 7 too, if it’s not too expensive. Hmm..

I’ve been going out quite a bit this week and had lunch at Kimchi a few days ago. Finally tried it and I must say that I was quite impressed :) I should’ve taken pictures though but didn’t have a camera with me. Had a bento set sort of thing and their beef soup which was really good- I love Korean soup so would always try them when I get the chance and of course their kimchi was good! It was a little bit pricey but I think quite reasonable la so not much qualms about the pricing. Should try the BBQ soon though yums!

Gonna post some random pictures now because I wasn’t able to the last few times I wanted to blog..

not about food…

I just realized something. I wonder if anyone ever gets confused with my site’s url? I hungry. Does anyone ever think that this blog is about food?!? Haha It just dawned upon me that my site’s url and name could be quite deceiving hahaha. Anyway maybe I’m just too ‘free’ to be thinking about all this -_-

I can’t upload pictures! WHY :( Most people never read unless they see pictures, I know, I’m one of them HAHAHA but I do read okay! I don’t really have nice pictures to psot but .. nyeh. I really should upload pictures out from my 400D. I’m contemplating with myself to get the Nikon D90. Heh heh :) okay way too many gadgets/stuff bought in this one year alone. 2 phones and an iTouch and I had to get my Canon repaired. $$$$$$!

Anyway being in Singapore for the past 6 months has been so good that I don’t have that itch to shop anymore :) My money is spent on food, petrol and buying my easi cards -_- I’m annoyed that I have to keep recharging once every few days; I miss my Prima line although I absolutely hate getting barred. I mean who doesn’t? Ahem.

I’m craving for the scallop fettucine pasta I had at Ngee Ann :( So far I have had:-

  • MyOwn’s 老鼠粉 (lao shu fen) and wantan soup!!!!! <3
  • Excapade. Like three times! I really don’t like it anymore. Shin Kuishinbo is seriously the best. How I miss you too.
  • Ideal’s chicken! I was craving for that while I was in Singapore.
  • JOLIBEE SPAGHETTI! I was craving for this too and I will have an overload of that this Saturday @ bowling :D
  • Thien Thien Chicken Rice.. Coincidentally I wasn’t craving for this, maybe because I never finish my rice. Heh.
  • All-you-can-eat at Capers. I stopped eating the Carbonara for a while but I had it the other day. Really good :) A regular pizza and 4 pastas finished up by two people with a jug of coke and my fave cookies and cream shake. Omg super greedy sia… (Singaporean talk kicking in people)
  • The Messy Mud Pie and Mango Strudel at Fleur De Leys. How to lose weight like this???
  • Tuna thick toast (my favourite) and waffles at Gripps Cafe along with my lovely 野果奶茶
  • Had the same drink at Cheezebox again with a tiny little potato & italian beef cheese baked pie?
  • Tried the 老鼠粉 at 88 in Bunut.. It’s not bad as well :)
  • Had the kebab at Huaho  Bunut too. So random but yeah didn’t know where to eat.
  • I had the koayteow at TK Gadong last week, it’s still good but I still won’t be satisifed until I get my fix from that place opposite Concept :) does it even have a name?! Just Seria Koay Teow? -_-

That’s a lot of food. :\

Maybe this blog is about food after all. HAHAHAHA!

Rubbish, yo. Alright I’m off. Going to shower and meet Yvonne for murtabak :D (food, again, omigaaaad inda boleh tahan eh!)

Love love x

writings;

I guess the main reason why I haven’t been updating this site as much is because I’m on Twitter so often now and I just got a E71 so that makes things much easier since everything’s so on to go with that phone. I find that the Internet connection via this nifty gadget is so much faster than my previous Sony Ericssons. Four years ago after I got my hands on my first Sony, I literally swore off Nokia handsets… Now, four years later, I’m back to Nokia. I will probably keep my word about NEVER heading back to a Samsung phone, ever again.

Anyway my paternal grandma has been in town for the past few days.

Outside the outpatient's department waiting for her turn

We’re not incredibly close but she is the grandparent I am closest to. She stayed with my great grandfather when he was still alive for as long as I’ve known because she and my late grandfather have been separated since before I was born. It was good to see her here although she had to come for checkups for her knee and eye; but if not for her sickness I wouldn’t have had the chance to pray for her. :D

Only thing I regret about this E71 was that I forgot to check if it had the Chinese language in it :( QQ Station was the only outlet that sold the red handset and only Incomm sells the chinese versions. Nyeaaah I’m trying to improve my Chinese so yeah it’s pretty important. Hmm I wonder if there’s any way for me to install it?

Anyway going out in a bit to visit a friend. I’ll hopefully update this space more often even if I still don’t know who actually reads the posts… -_-“

now we stand on holy ground

We always need to do what’s right. Character is dependant on the words people speak. People of integrity will do things even if it embarrasses them, costs them, or inconvenience them. It pays to be a person of integrity because your word is a measure of your character.

“Keep your word even if it costs you.”

Wake up call. Got to put the right things in the right place. Some things are just more important. And this is our second round. Are we really up for the long haul this time? We were childish back then; have we really matured and grown up? Can we take on full responsibility of our own problems and each other’s? I reckon it would be easier to just give up trying to make this work. It takes no effort to fail, no effort to grow weeds. But a lot of hard work to grow great trees. Do you really want to go through this?

sweet electricity ♥

A few interesting things have happened in the span of a few days. Who says nothing interesting happens in the kingdom of unexpected treasures? It wasn’t aptly named as that for nothing :D

Went to Yayasan to pick up a friend from her doctor’s appointment when I parked in the basement and had to walk through HuaHo to get out and saw all the customers and most of the staff looking on towards one direction. I was wondering huh what was going on before I started smelling a particular stench .. I don’t know about you but I really don’t like the smell of blood. I saw this guy who appears to be a worker from Huaho covered from head to toe in blood :/ He looked like his life just passed before his eyes and all the cashier girls were pretty much in shock as they were still bagging groceries for the other customers. What a sight really…

Then there was the infamous blackout which everyone already knows about :P I find it ridiculous how Madang, Berakas and Delima had electricity BUT Jalan Kebangsaan Lama (where I stay) did not! I went out and had dinner instead of staying at home, although driving back through Gadong was a little scary.. however some guy played fireworks in the midst of the darkness, which was pretty cute.

Electricity came back around 2 in the morning but I couldn’t sleep til past 3. I was up on Twitter and Facebook looking at all the different Tweets and status updates concerning the blackout haha. Even my brother called me asking me about it because of the mass reactions. Coffeebean in Bandar was full last night too.. And according to Ranoadidas, Twitter was the most reliable source of updates regarding the blackout. Thank goodness for internet on our mobiles and other places that had wifi connections! Hee to think like almost nobody used Twitter a year ago from today…

I met a freelance photographer while I was at KK last week and his work is pretty awesome. He just did his own line of photography for a local clothes line for women. His website here is quite inspiring in itself and he is really funny too! He was a SOT student in 2007, apparently one of the star students too. Pretty cool :) I found these pictures from his blog to links of photos from other sites:

stars!

I have always had a fascination over paper stars :) I think it goes all the way back to 2002. I should make somemore again :D

All her photos are amazing.. Above photography, I think I really need to work on my photo editing skills. I have the programs but they’re not being put into use haha. Whereas I know many people who are just like that but the other way around. Both are good together hand-in-hand though :)
